Canakkale - Assos & Ancient Troy

Daily Program

Docking at the port of Canakkale, you will be welcomed by your private guide who will be holding a sign bearing your names. Boarding your minivan, you will head on to Assos, an important center of Greek Philosophy where Aristotle taught before he went on to Pella to teach Alexander the Great in the 4th century B.C.. It is also the place where St. Paul rejoined his companions and set sail to Holy Land. After exploring Assos, and observing the splendid view of Lesbos, you will be visiting a very well-known city with its epic heroes and the war that is told by the famous historian Homeros in his legend Illiad: Troy. Founded during 3000 BC, Troy had both strategically and commercial importance that made it a target for many assaults in history. Discovered in the 19th century, Leaving Troy, you will be visiting a small local café &book store owned and managed by a local family where you will experience the Anatolian hospitality with the treats of delicious samples from Turkish cuisine prepared with olive-oil, one of the abundant products of the region. Afterwards, you will be transferred back to your cruise ship and bid farewell to Canakkale.
